Jeter Names Nominee for Roberto Clemente Award

Derek Jeter is the Yankee player that is now in the running for the Roberto Clemente Award, sponsored by Chevy. The Award was established in honor of Roberto Clemente, a 12-time All-Star and Hall of Famer who died on New Year’s Eve 1972 while attempting to deliver supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. It is presented to the player who best represents Major League Baseball through sportsmanship, teamwork, positive contributions to their team, and community involvement. Jeter established the ‘Turn 2 Foundation’ in 1996, which gives back to all the communites that he has been connected to in his lifetime. For this reason, among many others, Jeter may be the next winner of the Roberto Clemente Award.
